The acclaimed scripts of Above The Stag Theatre’s pantomimes for adults are being published for the first time. Written by Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper, these festive shows place queer characters front and centre in popular fairytales, myths and adventures, combining wit, wonder and social satire with the best traditions of the great British panto.
Celebrating a decade of laughter, and published appropriately in time for Christmas, He’s Behind You! 11 Gay Pantomimes includes the scripts of reimagined classic stories such as Cinderella, Treasure Island, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. The most recent, Pinocchio: No Strings Attached, completed its run of 55 sold-out performances in January 2020.
Generously illustrated with original production photos, the book features a foreword by The Stage’s theatre critic and journalist Paul Vale, and each script is introduced by the authors.
