Gay's The Word Tote Bag, Anniversary Edition

Gay's The Word Tote Bag, Anniversary Edition

£10.00Price

Totes Gay's The Word, Anniversary Edition. Est. 1979.

Our sturdy, fairtrade organic cotton canvas bag features the linocut design of Gay's The Word's shop front, created by artist Gemma Curtis of Wild Water Art Store, screen printed in white and pink on black canvas with an all around gusset. (Who doesn't love a generous gusset, right?)

Of the design, she writes: 'This lino-print was inspired by a campaign to draw your favourite bookshops. Gay's the Word sprang immediately to mind, as I love it for its politics, community space and vast selection of queer books.'

We were honoured to be the subject of her very first bookshop print and she has gone on to do many others, including Category Is Books, The Common Press, Housmans Bookshop, and other radical bookshops.

The new tote bag was inspired by our 45th Anniversary, marked in January 2024, and the Five Leaves Bookshop tote bag also using their shop front print design also by Gemma Curtis.
